How do I set up arpReach to use arpVerify?

From version 1.5, arpReach comes with the arpVerify integration module as standard.  All you need to do is set up an arpVerify account, get an API key from arpVerify, add it into the settings box in arpReach and click the enable button.  It is a very quick and simple process.  Once you have enabled the arpVerify module you can then configure it’s various options to suit your business needs.

What is the Recycle Bin?

The Recycle Bin is where contacts go when they are not considered “safe” to send to. It’s worth knowing that sometimes your contacts will only be in the Recycle Bin temporarily, while arpVerify is confirming whether they are safe. So for example, if you import a list of contacts, it will take an amount of time (from a few minutes, through to a number of hours if the list is quite large) to check everything on the list. Until the contacts have actually been verified, they will be held in the Recycle Bin. No autoresponse or broadcast email messages are sent to contacts that are in the Recycle Bin. Once the verification of each contact is complete, the contact is moved to your contact list or, according to the preferences that you have selected for the different verification results, it may stay in the Recycle Bin.

Can I still send emails to Contacts in the Recycle Bin?

Yes. If you see a contact in the Recycle Bin that you want to add to your Contact List, irrespective of the outcome of the verification, you can go to the Recycle Bin and select the Override check box next to that contact. The contact will now appear in your Contact List as Safe to Send, with a white check-mark over the green “safe” indicator to make it clear that the original verification outcome has been overridden. The contact will still be visible in the Recycle Bin (along with its Verification Result), so you can easily remove the override if you change your mind about sending to this contact later on.

What is the Contact List Monitor?

The Contact List Monitor keeps an eye on your existing list of contacts. Your contacts are re-verified at the frequency that you configure, to ensure that if anything changes your list remains in optimum health. For example, over time an email address may become inactive, or a domain may get blacklisted. By regularly re-verifying your contact list, these contacts can be moved to the Recycle Bin and your Sender Score will be maintained. The Contact Monitor is enabled independently, so make sure you have enabled it under the Contact Monitor tab if you want your contact list to stay clean.

What is the Import Monitor?

The Import Monitor is used to perform a one-time verification on a list of contacts (this could be one contact or millions) that you want to add to your existing Contact List in arpReach. The rules you set for the Import Monitor are applied when you use “Import Contacts” or “Quick Add”. The Import Monitor is enabled independently, so make sure you have it enabled under the Import Monitor tab if you want to verify lists of contacts automatically as you import them to arpReach.

What are the Verification Rules for?

Verification Rules are used to verify contacts that are added individually to your Contact List. The Verification Rules are applied (if enabled) when contacts are added via your arpReach subscription forms, automated email sign-ups, API calls, or manually within arpReach using “Add a Contact”

When will the Confirmation Email get sent?

The Confirmation Email is only relevant to contacts that have been added individually, and is only sent if configured under the specific input methods in the Verification Rules. You can use the Confirmation Email to minimise the chances of losing a new contact if a temporary glitch on their email server causes their email address to be marked as anything other than “Safe to send”. By sending an email asking the contact to verify their email themselves, they effectively confirm that they do really exist. If the contact subsequently clicks the confirmation link, the email address will be added to your Contact List and marked as “Safe to send”.

If a Contact is in the Recycle Bin, does it automatically get re-verified by the Contact List Monitor next time around?

No. For the odd occasion when a known “safe” email address fails the verification, this contact will need to be re-added to the contact list in order to be re-verified. In the rare circumstance when a large number of previously “safe” contacts on your contact list have been moved to the Recycle Bin, and you suspect that a technical error is the cause of this, please contact customer support.

If I have overridden a Contact in the Recycle Bin, does it automatically get re-verified by the Contact List Monitor?

Yes. As overridden contacts are on your Contact List, they will be verified each time the Contact List Monitor runs. If an overridden contact subsequently passes verification, that contact is removed from the Recycle Bin and appears on your Contact List as “Safe to send”.
